Driving on unbalanced tires

I'm getting new tires next week and I want to take off the wheel weights my self. I don't see what can hurt, only 10 miles and tires are removed anyway. And it can't be worse than driving 5,000 miles with a discounted tire that puts "too much weight" on the dealer.
